When exposed to ample sunlight for the first time the extractor will activate within 20 seconds automatically starting warm air extraction. On partly cloudy days this vent incorporates built-in capacitors to temporarily store energy adjusting the fan speed to a slower setting if necessary until full sunlight returns. During overcast spring or summer days the vent operates intermittently.
