Description

Medium perlite is a lightweight hard aerated white mineral formed from volcanic glass. It is used in potting mixes to enhance drainage provide aeration to plant roots and retain oxygen moisture and nutrients from soluble fertilizers.

Finer to medium perlite is ideal for quality seed-starting mixes or rooting cuttings as its drainage properties promote rapid root development. It is also excellent for succulents and orchids. Additionally medium perlite can be lightly scattered on lawns where it will gradually work into the soil to improve drainage.

In seed-raising mixtures perlite encourages quicker germination and enhances seedling growth. Seedlings can be easily removed from perlite with minimal root damage during transplantation.
