Description
Medium perlite is a lightweight hard aerated white mineral formed from volcanic glass. It is used in potting mixes to enhance drainage provide aeration to plant roots and retain oxygen moisture and nutrients from soluble fertilizers.
Finer to medium perlite is ideal for quality seed-starting mixes or rooting cuttings as it promotes rapid root production through effective drainage. It is also excellent for succulents and orchids. Additionally medium perlite can be lightly scattered on lawns where it will gradually improve soil drainage.
In seed-raising mixtures perlite encourages quicker germination and enhances seedling growth. Seedlings can be easily removed from perlite with minimal root damage during transplantation.
